Steam Engine: Mechanical Design
Fall 2011

Over the course of four weeks, myself and a team of three other students designed and fabricated a model steam engine. The team modeled all mechanical components in Solidworks. Design validation was determined via Solidworks animation and simulation. All but a few components (screws, air inlet, retaining rings, etc.) were self manufactured in Olin College's machine shop.

Collaborators: Christopher Fitzhugh, Geetanjali Gubba, Kifer Hicks

Running steam engine at 100psi. Operational speed is roughly 800 RPM.
Running steam engine at 30psi.
